“What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Add the above quote to another favorite by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” This goes for anything one wants to achieve in life, in my case it was learning to ride the bicycle, approaching the golden age of 50 in a country where kids learn to cycle between age 2-4.

I remember the kids in the neighbourhood calling out to me: “buurvrouw, kunt u al fietsen” [neighbour, can you bike already]. I didn’t feel shame nor embarrased. I thought they were just cute, I fell several times, but who cares. Professionals fall too, so I’m in good company. 😉

I learned to apply the “Yes I Can” mentality in several phases of my life. After twelve years in a comfortable, convenient and complacent lifestyle, at age 55 it was time to cast the net on the other side. I took up entrepreneurship again and added excitement, and new learning experiences to my life. Needless to say I fell several times, got back up and kept moving.

“Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving.” Albert Einstein

In my book “Go Ahead,You’re Home” I share my highs and lows, my scars and stars and how I keep moving motivated by faith, not paralyzed by fear!

Colorfully,
